At the Legatum Institute's 2014 Summer Party, John Humphrys, BBC Radio 4 Today programme presenter, took part in a hilarious question and answer session with Cristina Odone, the Legatum Institute’s new Director of Communications, covering Tony Blair, politicians who dodge questions, and lunch with the Queen.
Iain Duncan Smith, the Minister for Work and Pensions, Radek Sikorski, Foreign Minister of Poland, Justin Webb the Today presenter, TV historian Bettany Hughes, Lord Lamont, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, and William Shawcross, the chair of the Charity Commission were among the guests.
Toby Baxendale, Trustee of the Institute, welcomed Humphrys as a “man who held politicians to account”.
Sian Hansen, the Legatum Institute’s new Executive Director, said “We were delighted to hold our first summer party, welcoming guests from all sides of the policy spectrum. We are looking forward to a successful year ahead, with research and events focused on our mission to foster prosperity in society.”
The Pulitzer-prize winning historian Anne Applebaum, Director of the Legatum Institute Transitions Forum, Graeme Leach, Director of Economics of Prosperity programme and Hywel Wiliams, who heads The Culture of Prosperity programme, also attended the event.
