Addressing the challenges confronting our generation will take visionary thinking and commitment. But more importantly, it will require us to build a movement of people dedicated to improving our societies.
Our CEO Philippa Stroud and Senior Fellow Matthew Elliott delivered a lecture examining how we can construct a Theory of Change. They shared their personal stories and the principles and lessons they’ve learnt delivering major change and reform to the UK. Drawing upon this experience as well as historic campaigns such as Wilberforce’s efforts to abolish slavery and the Anti-Corn Law League, Matthew and Philippa set out the five steps to successfully effect transformational change:
- Articulating the problem
- Finding the solution
- Building a coalition of support
- Persuading the decision makers
- Implementing the solution
They concluded with a look into the Institute’s new research programme, which seeks to address the major challenges of our generation and to shape the values, ideas and policies, which will transform society and see all people prosper, creating the pathways from poverty to prosperity.
