On October 23, the Legatum Institute hosted a symposium with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on
“Ethics for a More Prosperous World.” Playing off themes from the Dalai Lama’s recent book
Beyond Religion, the symposium explored the role of values and ethics as foundations of human prosperity.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama was joined by a select group of accomplished young professionals from a range of backgrounds. “We believe that the world is at a crossroads, and that most of the pressing economic and political challenges we face today are fundamentally moral in nature. In our opinion it is essential to examine the key values that lie at the heart of today’s debates and at the foundation of prosperity, broadly defined” said Jeffrey Gedmin, President and CEO of the Legatum Institute. “We are honoured that His Holiness the Dalai Lama joined us for this important discussion.”
