Chloe de Preneuf
Programme Coordinator for Political Studies
Chloe de Preneuf joined the Institute in September 2011. Prior to this she spent a year studying Arabic at the French Institute for the Near East in Damascus. Before this Chloe worked for the French Mission to the U.N. in New York where she started as an intern on humanitarian affairs and human rights and was subsequently hired to work with the Press Counsellor and Spokesperson. She has also worked in Cairo for the National Société Générale Bank, where she helped implement a complex, bank-wide IT project.
Chloe has a Masters degree in International Security from Sciences Po in Paris and Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from McGill University in Montreal.
Chloe Sanham
Events and Marketing Assistant
Chloe Sanham joined the Legatum Institute in August 2011 to provide support to the Events and Communications/Marketing teams in London, as well as acting as the primary gatekeeper and manager for the Institute’s contact management system, InterAction. Previously Chloe worked for British fashion designer Caroline Charles organising and running various fashion events in London and at stores around the country and maintaining the website.
Chloe has a degree in English Literature and Spanish from Cardiff University.
Dalibor Rohac
Deputy Director of Economic Studies
Dalibor Rohac joined the Institute in July 2010. An economist by training, he works on a variety of topics related to economic development, economic policy and international political economy, with a particular focus on cultural foundations of prosperity. Prior to joining the Institute, Dalibor was a Weidenfeld Scholar at the Oxford University, intern at the Office of the President of the Czech Republic and a research associate at the Centre for the New Europe in Brussels. He has authored a dozen academic articles, published in professional journals.
Dalibor holds a MPhil from Oxford University, a MA from the George Mason University and a doctorate from the Charles University in Prague.
Edo Omic
Research Assistant
Edo joined the Prosperity Studies team in 2011 in March 2011 focussing on international relations as it relates to economic national security and government intervention into cross-country financial transactions. His research and academic interests are in international political economy, global economics, and development studies. Before joining the Legatum Institute, Edo worked as an economic consultant for BP, helping to determine the economic impact of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He has also worked as an intern for the Community Agroecology Network, where he aided in the effort to promote international sustainability and conservation farming practices.
Edo has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Bristol and a Bachelor’s degree in Global Economics from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
Emma Jones
HR Advisor
Emma Jones joined the Institute August 2011. She has more than 13 years experience in Human Resources, ranging from stand-alone positions in small organisations, to being part of a larger team in an international HR function. Prior to joining, she worked for a membership organisation in their HR department, providing support and advice to 250 employees across four sites. Emma now manages and assists with the Institute’s HR requirements including providing staff advice and support, developing policies and systems, record keeping, performance reviews, staff training and development needs.
Hemal Shah
Programme Coordinator for Economic Studies
Hemal Shah is the Programme Coordinator of Economic Studies at the Legatum Institute. With an interest in development economics and policy, she assists with research and project coordination of the economic studies team. She has assisted in writing several Legatum Institute reports, and has articles published in the Wall Street Journal and various blogs. Hemal is a former intern at the Legatum Institute. Prior to joining the Institute, she was a Research Intern at the United Nations Environment Programme in Geneva, assisting with strategic research on the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. She has also worked at marketing organisations and social enterprises in the UK and India.
Hemal has a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Studies from the University of Nottingham.
Holly Bigham
Personal Assistant and Communications Executive
Holly Bigham joined the Legatum Institute in January 2011. Her role is to provide support to the Senior Management and Communications Team. Prior to joining, she worked in communications for the UK government’s public health website.
Jack Havin
Cafe Manager
Jack joined Legatum in September 2010. He has been in the Catering Industry for the last 18 years having trained in France and worked in London for Marco Pierre White for many years, before spending 6 years in South Africa owning a Deli/Restaurant with his wife who is a professional Chef.
Kambiz Jahanshahi
Head of IT Systems
Kambiz Jahanshahi joined Legatum Institute in November 2011. He is responsible for managing and developing the IT function at the Institute. Kambiz has previously held management positions in the Financial, Legal and Media sectors and has considerable experience in implementing complex infrastructure and software solutions. He has overseen several technology overhauls at the previous companies that he has worked at.
Kambiz is currently studying towards an MBA at BPP Business School and holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham.
Katharine Mineyko
Events Manager
Katharine is responsible for planning and coordinating all conferences and events hosted by the Legatum Institute worldwide. Previously, she managed a European private events company based in Paris, and has worked on large scale corporate hospitality and private events in Spain, France and Italy, including the America’s Cup in Valencia. Katherine has worked freelance in the UK, coordinating and overseeing various private, corporate and charity functions in London and nationally.
Katharine has a degree in Modern Languages and History of Art from the University of Durham.
Kay Webb
Graphic Designer
Kay Webb joined the Institute in May 2011. She has over nine years full time experience with a successful track record in both in-house and agency creating print work (B2B/B2C press advertisements, brochures, reports, direct mail, exhibition stand graphics) and digital design (website animations, interactive e-newsletters, CSS, HTML).
Matt Baker
Research Assistant
With a background in development Matt Baker assists in research related to the Prosperity Index. He is particularly interested in the political and economic advancement of developing countries, in particular the role of infrastructure networks, with a focus on the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining the Institute, Matt worked in Sudan as a consultant for an humanitarian NGO. In addition, he worked at a local newspaper and as an English teacher at the Islamic University of Omdurman. He has also worked for a US-based international NGO focusing on access to business credit in Iraq and as a researcher in a communications and research consultancy.
Matt has a Masters degree in Political Science from Columbia University in New York and a Bachelors degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University
Mary Schutzer-Weissmann
Executive Assistant
Mary Schutzer-Weissmann joined the Operations team in September 2011. Prior to this appointment she worked in the Inner Temple as a fees clerk at 5 King's Bench Walk, managing every aspect of barristers’ finances and payments schemes. Before this she worked for a year as a boarding and classroom Assistant at Gordonstoun providing pastoral care to the junior school, French tutoring, and sports coaching. Her role will be to assist the Operations Team, working closely with Nick Martin, to support and deliver ongoing projects.
Mary has a degree in English Literature and History from the University of Edinburgh.
N'Jaimeh Cham
Assistant Office Manager
N'Jaimeh joined the Legatum Institute in November 2011. She started her career as a Team Assistant working in Further Education. Prior to joining the Institute N'Jaimeh spent 5 years as an Administrator-Receptionist in the corporate banking industry.
She studied BTEC National Certificate in Care and also accomplished a year’s voluntary work with the elderly and children with special needs.
Nathan Gamester
Research Analyst
With a background in politics, Nathan works on issues relating to policy and government as well as the economy, entrepreneurship and international business. He has authored several Legatum Institute reports and policy papers and his writing has been published in numerous outlets including the Wall Street Journal, the Journal of Palliative Medicine, Forbes, ConservativeHome, and The Diplomat. Nathan is the former Senior Parliamentary Researcher to Professor the Baroness Finlay of Llandaff, in the House of Lords. Before joining the Legatum Institute, he worked for several campaign organisations providing independent writing, research and consultancy services.
Nathan holds a degree from the University of Brighton in Business Studies with Law.
Raza Shah
Web Developer
Raza Shah joined the Institute in June 2011. He has more than 15 years experience in web development and IT business solutions and has worked for private and public sector clients, including Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, BP, Enron, JP Morgan, Bupa, Hasbro and British Airways.
At the Legatum Institute Raza is involved with continual innovations to the Prosperity Index and the LI.COM website, in particular ways to improve the features, components, design layout and functionality of our websites and Content Management Systems supporting all internal teams including Operations, Communications and Research.
Ros Williams
Executive Assistant
Ros joined Legatum in November 2011 as Executive Assistant to Jeff Gedmin. Trained as a graphic designer, she switched to admin after an extended career break in Australia. Her first role was as an Office Manager providing secretarial support as well as organising corporate client events and producing presentation material.
Prior to joining Legatum she worked as a team secretary and PA to a Partner at a large architectural practice.
Stefania Lovo
Econometrician
Stefania Lovo joined the Institute primarily to assists with the production of the Legatum Prosperity Index. Her academic and professional work has focused on development economics and applied microeconomics in the field of rural development, nutrition, productivity and trade. Before joining the Legatum Institute, Stefania worked as an external consultant for the World Bank. She also worked as associate tutor at the University of Sussex and collaborated with the Italian Development Cooperation in the West Bank.
Stefania holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex and a PhD in Economics and Finance from the University of Verona.
Tom Campbell
Office Manager
Tom joined the Institute in October 2011. He is responsible for the day to day operation of the office and reception at the Legatum Institute’s 6-storey headquarters in Mayfair. Tom gained most of his professional experience in the Arts industry, including working for the development office at the Whitechapel Gallery and most recently as Office Manager for the fashionable contemporary art auction house Phillips de Pury & Company. Prior to this Tom worked in the retail and leisure industries.
He graduated from the University of Kent in 2008 with a degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies. While there, he presented weekday mornings on the community radio station.
